Amateur football club ONT, based in the Frisian town of Opeinde, previously used about 700,000 liters of water annually. With 600 members and 63 showers, the club has significantly reduced its water consumption since November 2021. By collecting, cleaning, and reusing shower water for toilet flushing, the club now uses no more than 400,000 liters per year, saving an average of 45 percent on tap water. In 2023, the facility was honoured as the ‘Dutch Sustainable Sports Facility of the Year.’

Integrating the system into the existing building involved modifying the existing piping. This challenge was effectively addressed through collaboration with our partners, according to Jeen Visser.

For many clubs that will need to renovate their facilities from the 1960s and 1970s in the coming years, Hydraloop presents a tremendous opportunity. We want to be an example for sport facilities across the Netherlands.
