The first net positive mosque in the Middle East
4 x H600
The Majid Al Futtaim Mosque at Tilal Al Ghaf stands as a groundbreaking achievement in sustainable design, proudly recognized as the first Net Positive Mosque in the Middle East. At the core of this accomplishment is an unwavering commitment to water efficiency, made possible through cutting-edge technology and innovation.
Central to the mosque’s Net Positive Water strategies are four H600 Hydraloop systems, seamlessly working together to recycle thousands of liters of greywater. Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) from the Tilal Al Ghaf Central Plant complements the onsite Hydraloop systems, creating a robust circular water economy. This innovative approach demonstrates how religious spaces can champion environmental responsibility, aligning with Majid Al Futtaim’s mission to achieve net-positive carbon and water goals by 2040.
Nestled in the heart of the Tilal Al Ghaf community, the mosque is more than a place of worship; it is a spiritual oasis and a living tribute to the late Mr. Majid Al Futtaim’s vision of inclusivity, community, and sustainability. Designed to meet BREEAM “Excellent” standards, the mosque transcends traditional architecture to embody a new era of eco-conscious religious spaces. Powered entirely by renewable energy, it generates surplus electricity that is returned to the community, reinforcing its dual commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
The Majid Al Futtaim Mosque is a shining example of how faith, innovation, and sustainability can harmoniously coexist, inspiring future generations to build a healthier planet. At the heart of its water efficiency success is Hydraloop, redefining what’s possible in the pursuit of a sustainable future.
